Beer bars in Hua Hin, Thailand

I have already told you about beer bars in Thailand. I haven’t written about Hua Hin. Most other people haven’t either. That could be a blessing in disguise. The town is nice and quiet with a white sand beach that is barely visited. That’s funny considering all the people who swim at the shitty beach in Pattaya.

Maybe Hua Hin is quiet because it doesn’t have much in the way of a naughty nightlife scene. It does have some places. There is a soapy massage parlor that I will write about some other time and there even used to be a Lolita’s blowjob bar branch in town too.

Where are the bars in Hua Hin?

The main area that farang visit is the beer bar area. It’s just like Chiang Mai, where most white guys stick to the Chiang Mai beer bars instead of venturing out and looking at the many other options. At least in Hua Hin they have an excuse as there just isn’t that much else around.

The beer bars of Hua Hin are all clustered around a square area made up of four streets: Soi Bintabaht, Soi Selakam, Selakem Road and Poon Suk Road. This area is located right behind the Hua Hin Hilton. This guest friendly hotel is right in the heart of the action and within walking distance of most what farangs are looking for in the city. There’s even a bar inside of the Hilton called Beer House where freelancers come to find customers every night.

The best thing about the beer bars in Hua Hin is that they open early. You can stop by and have a drink or chat up a chick in the afternoon. Up in Chiang Mai the bars don’t get going until the sun goes down, so you’re only real option during the day is finding Thai chicks to date. In Hua Hin they open just after noon, so you can always go to a bar if you can’t score elsewhere.

Another good thing is that drinks are cheap. You can get a beer for 80 Baht in a lot of beer bars. That’s a lot less than you pay in Nana Plaza back in Bangkok! Lady drinks are normally priced but the chicks are surprisingly low pressure about buying them.

The bar girls

Like Chiang Mai (and Bangkok and Pattaya), the beer bars mainly hire chicks from the Isan part of the country. This poor area is home to the majority of chicks in the industry no matter what part of the country you visit. In Hua Hin I would guess that nine of out every ten beer bar workers comes from Isan.

A lot of the beer bars have pool tables. The others have the usual games like Connect Four, and most of the chicks are experts. When they say winner buys a drink you can bet they will win. Of course most guys want to play with the chicks.

The bar fines at the beer bars in Hua Hin are the lowest around. Most bars only ask 300 Baht for a bar fine. That’s 200 Baht less than most beer bars, and 400 Baht less than some of the more expensive ones in Pattaya. A few Hua Hin bars will ask for 500 Baht in the afternoon and drop the price later, but even then that only makes them even with the standard rates in cities like Chiang Mai.

As with any place, the chicks in the bars will ask whatever price they think they can get away with. I’ve heard of guys being asked for 4,000 Baht in Hua Hin before, but I’ve never seen it with my own eyes. Maybe that’s because I know the going rates, which are the same as the rates in Chiang Mai. Short time is 1,000 Baht and it’s 2,000 to 2,500 Baht for a chick to stay overnight. Some chicks want more but the vast majority follow these industry standards.
