While democracy protests have made the news lately Hong Kong is actually one of the freest parts of the world in some regards. For instance prostitution is legal in the Special Administrative Region, which makes it “freer” in that regard not only than mainland China but also most of the United States.
The specific laws appear to make it illegal to live off of the proceeds of prostitution but not to do the deed. The result is an abundance of “walk up brothels” which are basically small Chinese apartments all over where women sell sex. There’s only one woman in each room and this allows them to skirt rules against “organized prostitution” I guess.
It doesn’t make much sense to me since there are well known saunas in Hong Kong that sell sex but hey what do I know? I don’t have to deal with the back end wheeling and dealing so I don’t know all of the ins and outs of the trade.
What I do know is that there are plenty of walk up brothels and they are easy to find and to access even for non-Chinese speaking laowai like me. With a few addresses of buildings in hand it’s easy enough to stroll and in and knock on doors to see who is available but that’s a really old school and disorganized way of doing things. It’s almost 2015 and like everything else listings of these brothels have made their way to the internet.
There are a few websites that list available walk up brothels along with spas and other similar places. They usually have photos and some basic information like services rendered and prices. The good thing is that most of them have English sections. These are a lot easier to figure out than the Chinese sections even though the English is even worse than what you’d see on the typical Chinese take out menu back home.
Sex141 was for a long time the biggest and most well known website. It was at a time one of the most popular websites in Hong Kong. If you couldn’t figure it out on your own, “141” means 1 for 1, another way of saying one prostitute for one man. It was online for over a decade and it gained prominence in the industry. According to police though it ran afoul of some laws. The first owners were arrested, as were the second, and it was taken down in December 2013. This isn’t the place to detail that but you can read about the happenings easily enough online.
Nowadays the Sex141 address redirects to Go141. Competitors Miss148 and 161Sex remain online too. The show must go on I guess.
Walk up brothels or “141s” are easy enough to find with the websites. Some of the pictures are fake but the contact details are all real. If they weren’t money couldn’t be made. I find that the photos that look too good to be true usually are. If the picture looks like it’s from some Japanese porno it probably is. The real women tend to look more like real women and girls next door and don’t usually show their faces. There are some exceptions in the form of full on hardcore sex workers that are totally into their occupation. Some of them truly look like they stepped out of a K-Pop video.
The prices can be all over the place but in general a short time session costs about 350 Hong Kong Dollars which isn’t too bad. The process is simple. Find the building, walk up to the door, knock on it, greet the lady, pay the fee, take a shower, strap up, jump on, ride, shoot, shower again, take off. There’s not much magic to it by any means.
Sometimes the women get busy. When they do they put a “closed” or “come back later” sign on their doors just like a mom and pop restaurant would do. I’ve seen guys lined up waiting outside of some popular doors but as much as I love sloppy seconds that’s just not for me. The good thing is that most of the one woman walk ups are located next to others. If one place is busy you can knock on the next door and see who is available.
Most of the women in the walk ups are Chinese. They can be in their 20’s, 30’s or even 40’s. Surprisingly for someone coming from a place where drug addicted old hags with no teeth regularly get fifty bucks to blow a guy in a back alley, most of the women are attractive. Some do fetish stuff but most are straight forward pump and dump assembly line workers as described. There are also some Thai women working the walk ups though they’re not always listed as such on the websites. I think they just come to town for a few weeks to work then go home like the freelancers at the Beach Club in Kuala Lumpur.
Some profiles list options like overnights, butt play and even photography. I haven’t tried any of that. It seems to complicated and involved for what is essentially a wham bam thank you mam type of deal.
