Go go bars in Angeles City

Pattaya, Thailand has one of the most famous concentrations of go go bars in the world but Angeles City in the Philippines is another small town known for its go go bars and related businesses.

Don’t get the wrong idea. Angeles City is actually a large functioning city with its own industries, shopping malls and more. It’s not nearly as driven by tourism as Pattaya is (though nowadays Pattaya is growing too and it has all the trappings of a real city).

Pattaya was turned on to selling sex by Western soldiers fighting in Vietnam who went their for rest and relaxation. Angeles City was home to an American military base and the foreign oriented sex trade rose up around that. The base is gone but a lot of bars are still there.

Fields Avenue go go bars

The most go go bars and the most well known bars are located on Fields Avenue which is also referred to as Walking Street. Walking Street in Pattaya is a place you can actually walk without worrying about cars hitting you (though the crowds get worse every year). Walking Street in Angeles City still has cars, motorcycles, trikes and other things to look out for.

There aren’t as many bars in Angeles as there are in Pattaya and there aren’t a lot of things to do other than bars either. Even walking around is  a hassle, it’s hot and the streets are full of beggars. Street crime is also a real possibility though I’ve never had any problems. Pattaya has “baht busses” which can take you around for about $0.30 US. Angeles City has tiny side cars on small motos with drivers that will try to rip you off as much as possible. I’ve seen people pay the equivalent of $5 US for a 3 minute ride.

There used to be all sorts of wild events in the Angeles go go bars but those days are pretty much dead. The women wear bikinis at most and there’s almost never any kind of sex in the bars. Forget about lesbian shows, full nudity, or blowjobs in bars. You used to be able to have some fun in the handful of bars on “Blow Row” but that was ended after a crackdown.

Perimeter Road bars

Some fun stuff still goes on in the tiny bars out on the edges of the bar area, namely Perimeter Road and its environs. These bars aren’t as nice, the women usually aren’t as beautiful, things close earlier and there is a much more shady vibe in the air. Some guys are even afraid to visit the area after dark. I’m not one of them but then again my dick often leads me into bad situations.

Many of the main bars on Fields have been raided too, some multiple times. This has been going on for a few years. In the last two years the raids have really increased. Even some of the big expensive show bars that look like casinos have been hit. It’s pretty weird since they’ll hit the bars and charge someone with prostitution and cart off some of the dancers then a few days or weeks later the bar will reopen. Everyone knows what goes on in these bars. If they are really criminal enterprises why are they allowed to operate openly? Why are women that work in these bars required to be tested for sexual diseases regularly if they’re not supposed be selling sex? There seems to be a battle between forces that want to end prostitution and those who profit from it. I don’t know who will win but I’d rather not be caught in the middle.

Bar fines in Angeles City

Some charges seem to be based on bar fines. Bar fines in Angeles City aren’t like bar fines in Thailand or even Manila. When a customer pays the barfine that’s all he pays, unless he wants to give a small tip to the woman after. Barfines used to be as low as 500 Pesos. Then they rose to 800 Pesos, 1000 Pesos, 1500 Pesos, 1800 Pesos, etc. Nowadays I hear they are as high as 3000 Pesos and some women won’t stay the whole night with the guy that takes them out.

To get around the rules about barfines some places started selling fake bottles of fruit drink for the same price as the barfine. Then the woman would leave with the customer. I don’t know how well this worked since some of the bottle selling places have also been raided in recent months.

What about the women? Many are nice and beautiful. Almost all of them can speak English, at least basically. Some are shy but many are fantastic in the sack. They mostly come from poor provinces. More than a few are single mothers with saggy tits and stomachs but there are a few babes around. The babes are thinning out as time goes on. I guess they get better opportunities or go work in Manila bars where there are less crackdowns.

A lot of the women will fuck without a condom either by choice or out of ignorance. There are more than a few babies walking around Angeles City that resulted from these kinds of relations. Sexual diseases aren’t as common as you might think in this atmosphere but I’ve heard of guys getting some really nasty shit like molluscum contagiosum after fucking around in Angeles. Thankfully after many visits I never go anything but a cold.

Because there is a clear environment of repression and better opportunities around I wouldn’t visit Angeles City again unless the tide turned toward openness.
